You and I haven't ever met. I've heard of you thru my boyfriend Daniel V., Cole H., Melissa G., 2-Ton aka Chris Mc. and a few others. I've been at the Foundation House for 120 days today. I can't wait to read your book as I have said for several years now that there needs to be a Manufacturer's Anonymous. I've been addicted to "shaking the bottle " and the needle for years. I've always been told I will never break away from it. I visited your web site about the book and you have already given me some hope. I pray our paths cross someday. Much love.

Caroline B.

Spartanburg, South Carolina

My name is Caroline and I am a “guest” at the Spartanburg County Detention Center. I came across your “Mechanix of Meth” book on the bookshelf and began to read it and within a few hours I had read the entire book! It’s now being passed around most of the women in here with me. I couldn’t believe what I was reading, I felt as though I was reading the “script” of the last two years of my life. The great part was you provided a path I could understand and follow to help me get straightened out.

Let me give you a little background on me. I’m a college graduate and worked with law enforcement for 9 years. I do not fit the usual “drug addict” profile. I married a guy who introduced me to the wonderful world of opiates, mostly painkillers, and the natural progression was to Heroin! So from 2003 until 2012 I was a raging heroin addict! I was bragging about a habit of a gram of pure white china a day. When my husband went to prison, I said “Enough!’ and moved back to Spartanburg.

I quit the heroin “cold turkey” and did great for a while. I’d done meth before but it wasn’t my drug of choice. Then I met a “cook” and quickly fell into the role of his “ol’ lady”. We did great for a while until right before Christmas my boyfriend was rounded up during “Operation Ice Storm”. My name wasn’t on the list so we continued on as usual, doing cooks in my brand new $200,000 home. On Jan 3rd, my worst nightmare came true. SPSD, Us Marshalls and SLED kicked in my door and busted us with a “lab” and other charges. I sit here in jail, with no prior criminal record, staring 20 years in the face.

In hindsight it wasn’t the actual getting high that I loved so much. It was the manufacturing of the drug. The life I got so caught up in has cost me so much. My home, my cars but most importantly to me, my parents. They have closed the door on me and asked me not to contact them. Of course this caused a deep depression for me. But then I read your book and it caused me to not want to give up. It gave me the hope and inspiration I needed to believe in myself. Your story is truly an inspiration! Thank you so much for finding the courage to write the book.

My preliminary hearing is approaching and I’m scared to death. But whatever happens, I’m going into this chapter of my life with a positive attitude and the hopes of putting my life back on the right track. Thanks for reading a little of my story. I want you to know you have a lot of fans here in Spartanburg that are finding a new inspiration in your story. Take care and God Bless.
